Our aim

  • The study of predictive and evaluating neural mechanisms in children
  • The investigation of factors possibly causing atypical processing or behaviours such as for example Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Development of playful tests which are fun and entertaining for children

Our perception is highly influenced by our expectation based of previous experience. The aim of this project is to investigate these expectations or predictions in children: How are these expectations formed and what happens if these predictions are contradicted by what actually is perceived in reality? Dysfunction of this predictive coding system will have its consequences. According to a new line of research for example suggests that atypical functioning of this system may be in connection with behaviours characteristic to Autism Spectrum Disorder. Apart from studying basic mechanisms of predictive coding, we also aim at development of new early diagnostic method of ASD.
